Planting Fields Arboretum, Oyster Bay
Planting Fields in the summertime is a beautiful location option, albeit there are less flowers blooming as there are in spring. I have a route that I usually like to take, but that easily changes with the weather/lighting, how crowded it is & the florals that are available on that day.
Planting Fields is an extremely popular location, so if you have a flexible schedule, aim for a weekday so you're not waiting for your turn to use a spot. People go there for their weddings, engagements, families, sweet 16's and quinceañeras on weekends so you'll often see 20-30 shoots going on at once.
During this particular session, we started in the maze of the gardens, and made our way over to the bloomed arches, before entering the "pool" area. Since it was a cloudy day, we were able to picnic out in the open fields and get even lighting for all of those pictures so we capitalized on that! We then headed over to the mansion and took some pictures around that area (there was a big quinceañera shoot going around the columns so we skipped that this time, but I usually do like to get those too) before capping it off in front of the greenhouse.
